Here a pair of tawny frogmouths that visited recently. They stayed for a few days until the tree grew too leafy for them. (The second two shots didn't turn out that good because of the weather).

For a few weeks I had one visiting my area bit after dusk, I would hear it calling and go into backyard to look for it, sometimes it was on the power lines or in neighbours tree, and one night happily perched on top of the hills hoist a few metres away!
Yeah I never get tired of seeing these guys. I also like the last one.
Yep I never get tired watching Tawnys. I love to just sit and watch them...In fact every day they were at my house I sat down for a while watching them and taking pictures.
The first time they came though,I actually didn't see them until someone pointed them out because they thought the birds were a cat.

These guys are so cool and one can get pretty close to them most the time and their camo works great on tree trunks and fat branches. If your lucky enough to pat a hand tame one they are one of the softest nicest living things to pat.

Here are a few more photos. The first one I took the other day when it was really hot, so the frogmouth didn't get a lot of sleep. (He or she is giving an annoying crow the 'Evil Stare'!)
The second shot is one I took this morning of the same Tawny. I noticed that he(or she) likes to always sit in the same place in the same tree. Maybe that's the most comfortable spot to sit in!
