Australasian Grebe chicks

One nest at my local wetlands ended up flooded but another looks like it must have survived.

Nice shots Rick. I just saw some Australasian Grebes with chicks today too.

Thanks Tim,TBL. They certainly have maximum cuteness factor :-)

Lovely captures Rick. My fave is the 2nd one. Something about the cuteness and the drops of water.

a collective sigh for cuteness, but that 2nd pic is great

Awwww... they are absolutely adorable!

In the 3rd photo, are the chicks swimming undernesth the parent's wing? And it looks like one on its back as well under the wing

Fantastic shots Rick. Did you use a hide to get so close?

Stunning Rick, I must get down to the lake and see if there are any young.

Thanks all for your comments.

HelloBirdy, yes they will hitch a ride tucked up under the adult wings. Clearer shot of this below.

Reflex, no hide, slow crawl then hiding behind backpack on the ground.

Takes a while for them to come out of the reeds but they will eventually when feeding.
