Good that forest destruction has been stopped, if only temporarily. Interesting that forest destruction began in the first place. Also interesting that the Tasmanian government calls forest destruction "harvesting".

Interesting that they were allowed to log so close to a reserve with forty-spotted pardalotes and swift parrots.

also interesting that now 'protected' areas can be unprotected and opened for logging if protection is swapped for other areas.

Poor Swift Parrots. Humans introduce the sugar glider from the mainland and it wreaks havoc on Swift Parrot nests and their young, so they find sanctuary on Bruny Island because it has no sugar gliders. Then the humans want to cut the trees down on Bruny Island. Almost as if the humans are deliberately trying to eradicate the Swift Parrot.

maybe that's their plan

eliminate the species and then all remaining habitat that had been set aside to protect it can be reclassified as unprotected

Spot on Zosterops. Not only reclassified but destroyed into the bargain. Oh humans, humans!
