I took picture of this bird at Brisbane QLD. It has distinct white markings under its eye and behind ear. Do you happen to know what it is ? Its tail unfortunately hidden behind some leaves.

It looks like a Lewin's honeyeater to me.

Lewin's honey eater have different marking as show in the attached picture. Only yellow marking behind ears, no white marking from beak to under the eye.

It is definitely a lewins honeyeater. The white mark you are seeing under the eye is the lighter colouring on the beak, it is showing up very brightly in the photo probably due to the lighting. I hope this helps :)
hello Trac, definitely a Lewin's Honeyeater, agree with others that the apparent lighter colour in your pic is from the light, I also call them the machinegun honeyeater because the call is 'chak-ak-ak-ak-ak' and they call often
