Very nice photos sx2002 .... I really like the little pied cormorants, they often appear to have a bit of a bad tempered expression that seems rather comical. Thanks for posting.
What other birds do you get at the dam?
Hi WD...we get Pacific Black Ducks, Swallows, Ibis...on rare occasions a Gret Egret, different species of geese, Coots, Dusky Moor Hens and a few other species...it's the best year round venue for birdlife I've ever found...
Great shot of that cute little fuzzball, he looks a bit cold! I find that ponds and lakes tend to be great all-year-round too

Hey, SX2002, does the local dam have much aquatic vegetation around it?
There is a lot of vegitation around it, trees bushes, etc, but not much in it...the local council dammed it some years ago and put a walking trail around it and turned it into a picnic area...there is a walkway out over the watewr so you can get out and photograph the birds much easier...
Nice. That looks rather like the Laratinga Wetlands at Mt Barker in SA, SX2002.
The only difference is, the dam has permanent water and birdlife...last time I went to Laratinga, most of it was bone dry...admittedly it was November but I thought there would be more water...also there weren't many birds there...from memory all I got was a couple of Ibis....
I haven't been to Laratinga Wetlands for a while myself. There wasn't much water there & that was before summer began its relentless, pounding heat. I imagine it would be bone dry now & bird populations would be well down.
