12 Days Post Christmas

It was a good week for me too last week with 12 New Species of Birds captured on camera. I was going to do them all to the 12 days of Christmas tune but was going to take too long so I'll just list them. New Birds for me were Plum-Headed Finch, Spiny-Cheeked Honeyeater, Painted Honeyeater, White-Winged Triller, Fan-Tailed Cuckoo, Black-Eared Cuckoo, Shoveller, Horsfields Bush Lark, Yellow-Throated Miner, White-Winged Fairy Wren, Barred Cuckoo-Shrike & Varied Triller.

Yes, a great range of birds to start off your year. That would be 7 new ones for me :)

Thanks Shorty & Birdy. I often think man I would love to go down there as you get so many species we don't get up here. But forget that it's probably the same for you guys as well. Whats common in one area is rare in another.

Thanks Rick & Tegan. I was surprised how well the Barred-Cuckoo Shrike photo turned out as it was very overcast and in the shade of the tree. Anytime you guys are up this way, let me know and I can take you to some great places.

There's two here that I missed but your Barred Cuckoo Shrike has come out really well and what a good looking bird it is. I should have wound the ISO up a bit more.

I love your Barred-Cuckoo Shrike picture with such nice lighting and a great pose. I also really like the Plum-Heade Finches!

They would all be new ones for me as well and but I really would love to see a B-C Shrike...they look so beautiful!

Thanks guys, it's nice to have a win every now and then. I have been a bit dissapointed with my photos of late.

Great haul of new species Devster.  Interesting to see from your photo how different the female WW triller is from males -  I realise now that i have only seen males.

As others have said the Barred-Cuckoo Shrike photo is a real stunner.

Thanks WD. The WW Triller stumped me because I thought it had the wrong colouring. As you mentionioned, its a female so not as dark as the males.

I've never noted any streaking on the front of female WWTs, any chance this is a juv instead?

Great photos! thanks for sharing them with us all!

There only two on your list that I have photos of the WW Triller (mine was male) and the Fan-tailed Cuckoo. The rest are all new to me.

I can see why you were pretty happy with your list. All awesome birds!
