I saw a tree with quite a few tiny brown birds, brown backs and cream breasts, tails up. Inner west Sydney in the green link along a canal. I think they are female or juvenile superb fairy wrens, does that sound right? It was hard to see them I didn't get much more detail. Made a little chirruping sound. I just couldn't see anything else that fit on the bird finder, but where would the males be?
Thank you
Elizabeth
Tails up sounds good for wrens to me.
Identify the beak colour to distinguish between the genders.
Dark = Mr
Light = Mrs
Thank you for this!

Oconnore, until you become familiar with Superb Fairy-wren males in eclipse (non-breeding) plumage & females look rather similar. Check your bird field guide to see the defining characteristics.
Okay, thanks for this. It will be easier when i have a camera or some equipment, than i can at least see more.
It was good to see them though, i had heard them before, but not actually seen them, they were well hidden in low bushes.
