I went to Melbourne over the weekend and went birdwatching at Mill Park Lakes where I saw a Freckled Duck. Then I went to Yan Yean Reservoir. I got 3 new ticks there, Musk Ducks, Blue-billed Ducks and a Great-crested Grebe. Blue-billed Ducks are classified as endangered in Victoria but there were hundreds of them in the reservoir.

On the way back to Sydney we stopped at Chiltern National Park, its a great spot! I saw 1 new bird there, a Restless Flycatcher. There were also many honeyeaters around, Yellow-tufted, Fuscous and Noisy Friarbirds. I also saw a leucistic Swamp Wallaby!

If you ever get a chance, go to the Melbourne Water bird sancturary in Werribee. They have escorted days for those who aren't registered: http://www.melbournewater.com.au/getinvolved/activities/Birdwatching/Pages/Bird-species-at-the-Western-Treatment-Plant.aspx. The place is incredible, especially during the breeding season when the place fills with migratorty birds. Something that I unfortunately missed.
Another place worth visiting and which isn't that well known is Serendip: http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/explore/parks/serendip-wetlands-education-facility.

Great trip tim and always good to get some ticks and nice photos. Beautiful ones of the restless flycatcher, you caught him in a lovely light.
Sounds like you enjoyed your trip. There would have been a few lifers for me here Tim.
