Recent fishing trip over Easter to the Tasman Peninsula, near Eagle Hawk Neck. In Tassie, we are allowed to clean most species at sea, and this usually results in birds at the back of the boat.
Unfortunately 2 metre swell with some small wave, makes life difficult when in a small boat. Not as good as I would like, but was happy to see so many birds.
Fighting over the spoils.
Too close to get him all in.
Love the beak colouring.
Beautiful birds!

Really awesome that you can get so good views of them. I like the last shot, they are amazing looking birds!
Great looking birds ... must be great to see them up close out at sea like that. Last photo is a beauty ... love the eye.
Great shots Dale. Love the colouring on the beak in that last shot. I'm really looking forward to my Eaglehawk trip.
I must admit to having a soft spot for Albatrosses, they are such a magnificent bird. It's an absolute tradgedy that an estimated 100,000 albatross per year are killed by drowning from long liners. It makes my blood boil to even think about it.
An article here shows an Albatross hooked to a long-line struggling to escape.

Thanks all, certainly a privilege to get so close to such magnificent birds. We almost always see albatross, commonly Shy and Buller's, which often come close when cleaning fish. Have occasionally seen what I believe to be Royal in flight at a distance, but unable to get any decent photo for ID. Could just be younger Shy or Buller's.
