I was camping in Queensland - Inskip point
And heard a bird call that sounds like a sharp whistle that turns into a beautiful loud water droplet sound.
Does anyone know the name or can link more info about this bird?

HI Lam,
If you were in NSW, I would say it sounds like a whip-bird, or whip birds to be precise. It is a call and response, two sounds, two birds.
Check out their profile for distribution and listen to the call to confirm.

Hi lamnishee,
I was just checking this one out, as it sounded intriguing. My first thoughts were a whipbird as Spanker suggests, or some kind of bellbird - either a bell miner or crested bellbird.
.
I just looked up the Crested bellbird and that sounds exactly like what you are describing. Typically they are found further inland than SE Qld, according to the BiBy website, but this is not completely out of their known range.
.
More details (and calls) here:

Hello Lam,
There is absolutely no chance of a Crested Bellbird at Inskip.
Have a listen to Little (Rufous) Shrike-thrush.

I think it's a Musk Dusk,were you near a lake?
On seconds thoughts, definitely a Musk Duck,I really don't think it could be anything else
It could be the "warning call of a Blackbird", that sounds like a soft bell.

The original post is almost 3 years old, wonder if Lamnishee is still around? Amazing how some old but interesting posts sometimes come up again. Often appears to happen when new members join and trawl through all the posts, although I would doubt Greame Chapman (mail) is a new member!

That is "interesting", I didn't check on the date either. Guess we'll never know what bird it was?

Have a look at that video, definitely not mine but it will confirm if it is a Musk duck or not.
Hi, is anyone still here from this conversation? I hear this bird every day (Gold Coast Hinterland). I always thought it was a Currawong but it's not. It's a long sharp whistle, maybe 3 secconds long and it ends with a perfect water droplet sound that sounds exactly like the noise that Cameron makes at the baseball game in Ferris Bueler's Day Off. It isn't ant of the birds previously mentioned in this thread. Any ideas anyone?
Sounds like an Eastern whipbird
Yes! Thank you NathanY
