Welcome rain

We have had rain at home here in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast QLD and the birds are enjoying the weather and flowers blossoming on trees and shrubs. It has been a wonderful week of photography. Here are some of the best photos. I am so excited to finally get a decent photo of the Spectacled Monarch which has proved so elusive to date with only a few glimpses. Also the Yellow Faced Honeyeater is a new addition and number 88 on our list of birds which have set foot on our few acres since we moved in 18 months ago. In addition to these birds at the moment we also have Scarlet Honeyeaters, Rainbow Lorikeets, Little Wattlebirds, Willy Wagtails, Whipbirds, Red Browed Finches, Red Backed Fairy Wrens,New Holland Honeyeaters, Golden and Rufous Whistlers, Brown Cuckoo Doves, Bar Shouldered Doves, Forest Kingfishers,  Orioles, Figbirds etc.

Bird Photos are:

1. Eastern Yellow Robin

2. Dusky Honeyeater

3. Yellow Faced Honeyeater

4 and 5. Spectacled Monarch

6. Lewins Honeyeater

7. Grey Fantail

8. White Bellied Cuckoo Shrike

9. Silvereye

10. Varied Triller

11. Brown Honeyeater

12. Female Leaden Flycatcher.

Really nice shots, great variety of birds. I love the Spectacled Monarch and the photos of it especially!

Lots of great birds and all great photos.

The Yellow Robin with the vivid yellow revealed in the tail, the levins honeyeater in the rain, and the fantail on the wire with the single grass - are ones that really catch my eye.

Great assortment of birds to have on your property. There a couple here that I need for my list, Dusky Honeyeater and Spectacled Monarch but I also need some better shots of some of the others as well.

All magnificent birds and great shots.

The Lewins Honeyeater is my choice.  Your title is 'Welcome Rain', and there he is.  The bird in it's habitat, surrounded by foliage, and revelling in the rain.

Clear and crisp with a lot of detail, you can see tiny beads of water on his back and tail.

Cheers.

Wow what a great set of photos and magnificent species to have in your backyard.

The photos are very well presented and very clear and crisp.

Hard to pick my favourite as they are all so good.

If I did I would say the Spectacled Monarch profile shot.

Such a lovely bird and one I have not had the pleasure of photographing.

Wow, so lucky to have such variety at your home. I believe the Dusky Honeyeater is uncommon that far south..

Thanks everyone for your comments. Yes we are certainly blessed to live in such a wonderful location. I was surprised Snail when you said Dusky Honeyeaters are not usually this far south as they are the second most prevalent bird here after the Little Wattlebird. They continue to delight expecially the juveniles.
