Hi all
Been a while since i last posted thanks to my 6 week old (Oliver) and his forever asking me hundreds of questions a day older brother Alex ;-)
Anyway here is a few taken a few weeks ago of the male Paradise Shelduck that was hanging around the Wilberforce area till recently. I don't think it has been seen recently but i did manage a fair few photo's. Here are some of the ones i have been able to process so far.
Enjoy!
Thanks to two juvenile Sea-Eagles i manged to get it in flight, was a little far and had to crop but they came out ok
The rest of the sequence put together in 1
Very good shots of it, I went there to see it too but didn't get good shots of it. Did you see the Great-crested Grebes on the lagoon?
Quality photos Vas. I especially like #2 with the droplets of water. The last shot,is that made up of several shots put together?
Samford Valley Qld.
Nice photos- I don't think many people got that close to it

Aiming for DSLR-quality shots with a bridge camera
Oliver has an enquiring mind. To be much encouraged.
Great shots of the Paradise Shelducks. Have they been seen in Australia before your sighting, vas? I read in Morcombe that they're endemic to NZ & a flock was seen on Lord Howe Island in 1950.

Thanks mate :-)

Thanks Reflex :-)
Yes the last shot is from a sequence that started with the 2nd last, i just got lazy to upload them all but since its from the same exposure it's easy to combine in PS ;-)
So there were really 8 shots all i focus and i put 2-8 in that shot

Yes but they think it's the same bird from Lake Wollumboola as when it took off from there it appeared shortly after in wilberforce.
I am not sure where it is now, might be elsewhere on the lagoon or moved on since the water dropped in its little hangout.

Well done capturing these Vas. I love the sequence you put together as well as the one drinking the water.
Nice work, Vas. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks shorty.
I didn't know it was at Wildberforce and got a flight shot in not so good conditions and far away of it before i knew it was there. Two birders walking past me said are you here for the duck and i soon learnt about it. I looked back at the shots i took of the unkown duck flying over and there it was on my sd card lol.
