Bassian Thrush

In the past I have been very excited when I have seen one of these birds.  I walk most days in the Boolarra State Forest and there are very few birds to be seen, being winter.  On the last couple of days I have seen a number of these birds either on their own or in pairs.

Thanks everyone for your comments I believe it is unusual to see so many of these birds in one area.  In the past I have seen one or two usually in the undergrowth.  The other day when I took the photo there were two in an open area feeding and they didn't seem to be frightened of me and three on the track ahead of me as I walked, again they did not seem to be as timid as they usually are.

Great photo. I always find it hard to tell the differene between the Bassian & Russet-Tailed Thrushes.

Often hard to see the feathers with the markings that I use to tell the difference.
