This bird was at Fogg Dam, NT June 2016.
The Egrets chased it away but the Pied Herons tolerated it.
It was about the size of a Pied Heron, maybe a little bigger.

Looks like an immature Pied Heron
Sue

I collected two images of this same bird from Facebook last photographed by Mary Marshall.
Yet another Pied Heron, this morph is reasonably regular now, keep looking out for them and we can eventually get a complete picture of how it varies and across the different age classes, this looks like a younger bird.
Cheers Jeff. Davies
Jeff,
are you collecting images of these Pied Herons as I have a few from AngBangBang and Parry Lagoons last year which seem to run the gamut? One has almost no colour on the neck.
Sue
Sue I posted the above comment. I beleave Jeff monitors 'Australian Bird Id' maybe u could post them there
Alan - do you believe that it is a single bird each year or a number?
Peter
I have never seen more tham one at a time.
This one is darkening up quickly so is different to the one last year!
