A new tick

Headed down to Stirling National Park to climb Bluff Knoll in the deep south west.

Didnt have much time for chasing the birds though I did stop at Cranbrook trail walk

Managed to get myself a new tick, I thinks it a Varied Sittella.

It quite fascinating watching him hop around the tree trunks up and down hunting bugs

Not sure what other bird is and there was plenty of Elegant Parrots which I hardly see in the Bunbury area

Certainly will be returning down there during wildflower spring season with birds being number one priority

Great shots of really great birds! The 2nd bird is a Western Whistler, previously a subspecies of Golden Whistler.

Thanks Tim

I didnt realise until then about the Golden Whistler name change here in the west

Sitellas mostly travel down tree trunks, gleaning bugs from upward peeling bark. Treecreepers travel up tree trunks, gleaning bugs from beneath bark facing the other way. So there's tucker for both species. I'm not convinced that modern human food markets work as efficiently as this.

I wondered what that bird was. Good ID Tim. I am hoping to be in WA in October this year.
