I guess the frontmost bird is also a red capped plover, but maybe its a immature double banded plover. I thought at the time they were different species, partly because they were just passing each other by and not going around togther. Seen at Newcastle NSW.
Yes both Red-capped Plovers, Breeding plumage in the back, nonbreeding in front.
