Coorong Terns

Brim full of water is one way of describing the Coorong at the moment, and various Tern species are making the most of the associated explosion of small fishes for the taking.

Got down last weekend for a couple of days and was great to see Fairy,Crested and Caspians all making the most of the conditions. Mossies were quite thick as well :-)

Great shots. I'm a big fan of the Caspian Terns with those robust scarlet bills. Great bird to photograph. Saw some Fairy Terns in Tassie and Norfolk Island early on this year.

Excellent shots - i love the terns. Agree with Reflex that they are a great birds to photograph - they always give something special. I have seen some little terns and fairy terns recently - very cute when seen alongside the bigger crested terns.

I particularly like your caspian tern sitting alone on the sand and also the first crested tern fishing with the water drops trailing off it.

Great set, Rick. I particulary like the composition of the second last shot

Great shots, Rick. The last one looks like the one in the water is saying " NO not another fish, can't i have a steak " :)  OK maybe it's just me ;)
