They arrived to my suburb 4 days ago, and have been very vocal since. Flew over calling and landed on the powerline behind my house breifly but that happened to be the one time I didn't have my camera on hand

They are very vocal, very early, that's for sure. They were in a patch of regenerated bushland, that runs by the light rail, so the stairs create a kind of viewing platform of the top of the trees.
I saw my first male Koel of the year to-day whilst working in the garden. I agree they are vocal in fact the call is very "repetitive" in my opinionit has a regular, repeated pattern which never changes but good to see one again. No sign of a female yet which are the prettier of the pair in my opinion.
They have usually been too high up and hidden in the canopy to see, so I was lucky. It seems that maybe birds that migrate from North to South go may slowly go even further south if the climate is warming?

Yes, it is a very insistent sound as if they are getting more and more pissed off!

You did well. Normally, although very loud, they seem to be very shy and take flight as soon as they see you.
Does that mean I'm the only one that has never seen one?
