After Lake Monger I wandered over to the larger wetland reserve at Herdsmen Lake.
I had covered nearly 3/4s of the lake expecting far more sightings then Lake Monger. Yet my noteable find was a young Tiger snake on the prowl.
Then within 10 minutes my first close up of a Hardhead duck pair, white headed Stilt , young swan , immature Ibis (???) and then Im guessing a young Australian Hobby landed in a tree right above me.
Pity about the foilage but it just goes to show it can go from drought to downpower at flick of a switch :)
Nice set laza.
Your Ibis is a Glossy Ibis, normally very shy.
Looks like a great place to visit.
Love the Hobby pic as well. Looks like he was fairly high up above you.
Thanks Dev for the IDs
Im very rapted then as its my first Glossy Ibis sighting then
Hobby was a few metres about me but there was plenty of cover for him so i guess he wasnt bothered by my presence when he chose the landing spot
Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well
It is great to see these pictures of birds i have never seen.

Great job, Laza. Those lakes in Perth always seem to teem with birdlife and make for a rewarding day out.

Awesome- that is the great thing about birding, you never know what you'll see next
