id of a bird sound

I am wondering about a call i am hearing at night, that starts in early evening and goes on until late at night, (not early morning).  It is a croaking, almost strangulated sound.  I read that Pied Currawongs have a deeper sound as well as their usual, and they are around the tree, but am not sure if that is it.  I am used to the Channel Billed Cuckoo in Summer, but this is not like that at all, not as loud.

If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate them!  Thanks.  ( This is inner west Sydney)

if it is going all night can you record it on your phone and upload it?

seems odd for a bird to go calling non stop for that long.

Thank you but no they aren't frogs, despite their croaking, or ravens.  I will have to work out how to record and upload sound.  Frustrating!

thanks.

I had a mysterious croaking bird that took me 5 years or more to identify. I only heard it but never saw it until one day my brother and I were walking into town and I heard the normal whipper snipper sound of a Restless Flycatcher ahead of us and then a croaking. My brother recorded it on his phone or camera. I don't know where that video has gone to but I remember the bird. It turned out to be a Restless Flycatcher, and it had a little family: 2-3 kids and a mate.

Is your mysterious croaking bird a Restless Flycatcher?

I'm at Tenterfield, NSW. (Formerly known as "Hyperbirds".)
