Wompoo Fruit-Dove & Noisy Pitta

On the weekend I went to Victoria Park Reserve, a rainforest remnant near to where I live in search of both these birds and was fortunate enough to get a few shots of each.

Well done. I love the colours when the Pita's are in flight but i think almost impossible to capture.

Too true Rawshorty this one flew a couple of times and the colours are beautiful. Near impossible to get a flight shot when they are on the forest floor, getting these stills I had the ISO @ 12800 just to get a 1/100 shutter speed and they still tend to hop away as you try & get a little closer.

Well done, two great birds and wonderful shots. I have not managed to see the Wompoo Fruit-dove out in the open like that... they always seem to hide behind the foliage.

Great shots Brian. I love the Wompoo shots. Like Sue said I only ever see them in the foliage.

12800 ISO wow thats a high ISO. You've done well!

Thanks for the kind words folks, in regards to the wompoo shots I had taken 3 or 4 shots about 15mins before these ones all in the foliage with nothing worth keeping. I then got talking to some people then just after they walked away I spotted this one feeding in a different Bangalow palm, I just checked my camera and I took 23 shots over a 5 minute period so it was very accommodating.

Great photos  ... two that i have not seen.

I really like the fruit dove photos - especially #1 and #2

Love the fruit-dove, definitely on my wish list. The pitta is great too, I got my first (and only) one at Lamington NP back in August. Thanks for sharing :)

Thanks mate, if you want to make the short trip down the highway I would be more than happy to show you around. Always see the Pitta's at Victoria Park.

Thanks Brian, Would like to take you up on that. Might add, if you see something that I have taken, more than happy to reciprocate at this end. Cheers, Murray
