Stopped to have some lunch by the highway just out of Bunbury and this little fella which im guessing is a Western Gerygone hop along on the fence.

Great shots laza .... first is a real cracker, i like the swept back hairstyle. Cant help you with id but certainly has gerygone features.

It is a greygone but I don't think it is a Western Gerygone. There could be some geographical variation but the ones we get here are much greyer

Im not 100 percent sure but other Gerygone types here in West dont really resemble it either and most are in far north.
Ive seen a couple of darker colour birds posted on WA sites as Western and I cant really find anything else it can be.
Though I wont be surprised if im corrected : )

Absolute cracker photos! I had a bit of a look and as Ryu mentioned the Western Gerygones seem to be a lot greyer. In saying that I can't givr a positive ID on the bird in your photos.
With the split eye-ring, red eye and white to the tail, I think that it cannot be anything but a Western Gerygone. However could it be a juvenile with that more intense brownish colour or a local variation as Ryu suggests. Good capture
