Hi,
Out for the first time in a fortnight (nasty virus) and I saw a small bird over 40 metres away. The shots are very 'Lock Ness Monster' like (fuzzy), but show a small red-headed bird. The only thing I can compare it to is the red-headed honeyeater, but they don't come down this far according to my ebook. Can anyone please help? [Edit: Could it be a Scarlet Honeyeater?http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Myzomela-sanguinolenta] Thanks.
More likely to be a Male Scarlet Honeyeater - wouldnt expect to see a Loch Ness Monster perched on a small branch like that:)
WD,
Thanks for that. The loch ness monster reference was a comment on the quality of the photographic evidence, not to an actual LNM. How big is the LNM supposed to be, by the way?
kind regards
G
Regarding LNM - that was my attempt at humour!
Once they find the LNM they can tell us how big it is. Its alleged by its proponents to be a sort of pelosaur left over from the dinosaur age I believe. I pretty sure the most well known photo has been debunked as a fake. Other "sightings" have been explained by the sceptically minded as possibly of a floating log half submerged in the water, rising and falling with the waves.
