Striped Honeyeater

I have only seen a Striped Honeyeater once before at Eagleby Wetlands and it was high in a tree. This one was far more accommodating and stayed in the low branches as well as landing on the ground to look for insects. In the ground pic he has a spider or ant in his beak.

Thanks Ryu. My bird book has them listed as uncommon although they are found across Australia. Nice to get one with more than just a good view from the underside. Cheers

Very nice shots alcatraz - love #2 .

I have also only seen them twice, around Central Coast NSW which i see is southern limit of their range on the east coast.

Bird book describes them as "rather furtive" !

Thanks WD. I think this one is the extrovert of his family. Having said that, since I go to Eagleby Wetlands most days, I have not spotted him/her in the past two weeks.

Cheers.

Nice catch of a beautiful bird. I have only seen them once and that was in Mildura.

Great photos alcatraz. They are fairly common up in Brisbane but more often heard than seen. No. 2 is my fav.
