Wedge-tailed Eagle Nest

I have visited this nest on a regularly basis for last couple of years.

Finally rewarded with this awesome sight

Forgive the quality , obviously didnt want to get too close so photos have been cropped

Well returned to the nest a month later and happy to report both its occupants seem to be  doing very well

Growing far faster then I imagined though

Well I returned to the nest yesterday and found it empty. I was about to head home when I heard the youngsters chatting away further into the tree. I decided to hang around for a few minutes and was rewarded when one of them decided to return to the nest. Not sure how long they have been flying before but it was a real treat to see this awkward youngster trying to stay majestic whilst navigating the branch. When fledging finally decided to fly off agaom , it flapped its wings a few times practicing before it took the plunge

Great captures.

You are amazing Iaza, with the regularity you come across all these different species.

Thanks guys , it was real special treat

Yes Keith very lucky down here at Bunbury with that Leschenault Inlet, amount of bird species on both the reserve western side and the urbanised eastern side is quite incredible
