Collared Sparrowhawk (Immature)........or possibly a Goshawk

I have a zero average on hawk IDs but im confident that with non baggy legs and extended middle toe this is a Collared Sparrowhawk.

I heard it from about 100m away in the forest in a agitated state and was hoping for best a glimpse.

Couldnt believe my luck that instead of flying away, it actually flew near me and gave me an earful and its best heart of darkness stare

Great sighting and photos, laza but it is actually a brown gos. Heavy brow, rounded tail and short middle toe.

Dammit Al, i knew somebody was going to tell me that LOL

No wonder the little blighter was going off his head at me, probably knew it was going to be mis-identified.

Interesting though usually only sparrowhawks around the inlet busland. Goshawks are usually further north and east in the farming area

cheers Laza

Dont take life too seriously, it never ends well

Stunning shots, Laza. Really find these two challenging.

Good try anyway Laza. They are difficult. Just as well you have excellent photos from which to give a positive id from hey.
