Does seem to have a bit of "Lovely Fairy Wren" about it, with the lores, Black bill and mottled chest/flank. Tail too long though?

Thanks again. I thought it was a variegated male that was either going into, or coming out of, breeding colours.
I would say you're right on the money Greyson.
We really only get the 3 species of fairy wren around here - Superb, Variegated and Red-backed - and this is definitely a variegated based on the red and blue colouring.
