Hi all, I've been trying to figure out what bird has this distinctive 3 note + 2 note call - new to my neighbourhood in last few weeks.

Any help much appreciated!
Thank you

Not a bird I'm familiar with - at least not calling so softly! - aragray. But then I live a long way from northern Melbourne. Perhaps a BirdsinBackyarder from your neck of the woods can identify the call.
Thanks anyway woko. It's a bit of an elusive bird, doesn't help that it's preferred time to call is in the morning when I'm less than enthused to get up and find it. If I can get a clearer recording, I will post it. This one definitely needs full volume to hear.
Mystery solved. I just updated the link as I recorded a much clearer clip this morning. And in the process discovered it is a magpie! I have not heard one make this sound before and it looked like it could be a young one.
Ah! Your persistence has paid off, aragray.
