Gardening Australia

The ABC's Gardening Australia programme on Fridays at 7.30 pm (at least in SA) now has lots of information about attracting wildlife in general & birds in particular to your garden. I've just finished watching tonight's episode in which Birds Australia's Sean Dooley & new presenter Ive Forgottenhernamesoillhavetowatchagainnextweek discussed attracting small birds to your garden. Sean made the point about how our natural landscapes have become extremely fragmented which makes it difficult for small birds to disperse after breeding. Gardeners can help this process by recreating the bushland which once grew so that larger areas of bushland are connected thus enabling small bird dispersal & survivability. This can all be watched on ABC iView if you missed it.

Well, whadoyaknow, just after I posted the above post I was browsing the News tab above & came across the name of the new Gardening Australia presenter. It's Em Bowman. And a very interesting article she has written. Definitely worth a look.

Next Friday's Gardening Australia features a group of folk from Cumberland Park in Adelaide who are volunteer growers for Trees for LIfe. Could be interesting.

And besides the fact that it can be viewed on ABC iView, they also have it in their blog. I saw it recently. This is very good news, I was glad to hear it!

My wife and I didn't miss a single episode of this show. We love watching it on weekends and feeding off ideas for our new garden. We have already done a lot of work, bought a lot of equipment for gardening. Every day we do a little work, and I think that in a month our garden will be able to receive new guests for joint barbecues and parties. We also ordered tree pruning tools of outstanding quality, which helped to give a great look to our trees and shrubs. I am delighted that we have finally started working with our garden. You can't imagine how beautiful it becomes every day. Good luck, and remember that a good garden is first what the guests see.
