28's are what we in W.A call these parrots in other states they are called ringnecks, very common bird but i was more then happy the way this one turned out.

Who ever said their call sounds like 28 must have been drunk or on drugs,nothing like it.
But yes i have read that also...
Very funny Raoul :) But have you ever found yourself, as I have, trying to sound out the description of a bird call and make it sound like the bird yo are listening to? I find very often that they don't resemble the translations at all.

I wondered why they were called 28s too, after the post with the pair of ringnecks and the pair of rainbow lorikeets. My favourite bird book, The reader's digest complete book of Australian birds says '... the large southwestern birds give a strident trisyllable variant of the contact call sounding like twenty-eight, the last note at higher pitch, hence their local name - Twenty-eight parrot.'

yes i listened to it this morning....4 of them calling each other at our backyard, it sounds like 28's or psychological effect hehehe
