Blue-faced honeyeaters visited our yard today. They were feeding on nectar from the giant candles banksia and looking for insects under patches of bark on the gum trees.

Great shots of a beautiful bird, thanks for posting.
Nice photo's BG of a top bird. i finally have them coming into my yard no the plants are getting bigger. I noted in another thread that you have photos of the juvies. Can you post one up I think I may have a couple of younger ones stopping in they have a grey back though. I have so many new birds stopping in at the moment I can't wait to plant out the back yard. I had a couple on small honeyeaters stop in today about the same size or a fraction smaller than a willy wagtail.
thanks
Andrew
All I had to do was turn the page :)
Great series of shots there Birdgirl, well done.
Beautiful photos Birdgirl. I'd love to have this species eating from our Banksia, but it's too cold for them in Melbourne.

Thanks everybody
Hi Andrew - here are some juveniles. They come into the yard when the giant candles banksia (a naturally-occurring hybrid between B. ericifolia and B. spinulosa) and swamp banksia (banksia robur) are flowering, so I would recommend these to attract them.
Thanks BG. I had another type of honeyeater stopping in but it was greyish I thought they may have developed the green with age. They come in for my grevillias at the moment there are 12 banksia's in the front yard (8 are prostrate) once they get bigger hopefully they will visit more often. The Xanthostemon Chrysanthus in the roundabout are what really brings them in.
What magnificent birds. Lovely saturated colour, pin sharp picture perfect shots.
