Thanks all
Many thanks to mr and mrs Drongo for finding it for me, my last 3 daytime owl encounters (this one and 2 barking owl) have been thanks to Drongos.
Recently I discovered the roosting tree of a Boobook Owl that had previously been observed flying around my area for many months. It is roosting in a very small street tree which has thick foliage and was only discovered because of the mess it had made on the footpath below. There have always been plenty of mice and rats in my area so I suppose that’s what makes it look well fed.

How wonderful!
Owl pellets are all sorts of fun - you can sort through them for bones and fur to see what they have been eating
HI ED
Top shots it looks like a hard bird to find in the bush.
oh how lucky you are. You must have been looking very carefully to find an owl by day. Aren't his pupils huge?
I wouldn't fancy being a mouse seeing those big eyes just before it swallowed me!

I know I have these birds at my place because I have heard them, but I have no idea how to get to actually see one.

Another great owl shot, ed. Like soakes, I'm sure we have them in our neighbourhood but have not yet seen one.

Good work getting shots. They are a nice little owl and I love their stare!
Cheers, Owen.
I've never seen one. In fact, I've only ever seen frogmouths here, no owls at all. Well caught, this one.
