Underbelly Musk Lorikeet

This was the best I could manage by shooting through an entanglement of twigs and branches before it flitted away like a spendthrift's wages.

Tassie

I have not seen one before Tark, thanks mate.

The best I've ever managed to get in of one of these ones was half a bird. Congrats on the piccie.

You really got good and close. If they drop in here, they are usually right at the tops of the gum trees

George, thanks mate.

Birgirl, My best shots were of the first sighting of one a couple of weeeks back (to which the link above refers) - it just so happened that it had been attacked by a bunch of Rosellas and came to perch on a tree near to where I was standing. Just in the luck of the game.
.
dingo, the original file had way too much contrast between subject and sky. I balanced the tonal range as best I could using Photoshop CS3. The colours of the bird are as true as I could make them.
.
Here is a reposting of my first shoot.

Hi dingo, I've been working with Photoshop intensively for the past 12 years and have a number of private students. It's a helluva lot easier to learn than birding!
