During a late afternoon walk through the local park I found this little jewel of the bush. There's something about little bush birds..... they're so gorgeous. Hope you enjoy.

HI George
What pretty little bird top stuff well done.
Thanks guys. I couldn't believe how close he landed. At one stage, he was inside the min focus distance of my lens (1.5m).

It has to be said that you have a way with birds, young George! That's a gorgeous one and your lens is also very nice mate.

Tasmania is supposed to have its own indigenous Forty Spotted Pardalote. I've twice been to where it has been seen but haven't Spotted it! *groan* (forgive me) ;-(

Fabulous pics of a fabulous little bird GeorgeP. I think you must like these birds seeing as you have one for you'r avatar. Were you close to its nest for it to get so close to you? I remember when I was a kid living in Sydney ( good memory eh ) if you got too close to their nest they would almost attack you.

Just beautiful George - your description of a "jewel" is spot on.
About 5 years ago we had some in a tree out the front of our house, but I haven't seen any locally since.
Really enjoyed them - and agree - there is something about the wee birds.
Thanks all for the extra comments.

@ Ray - the nest was on the other side of a creek and I had discovered it a few days prior. The bird came to within 6", or so, after I played a short burst of call. I was kneeling on the ground and he landed on a long grass stem right beside my knee !
