New Camera

Well may you taunt me with, "But you haven't learnt to use the lens on your old one yet!" ... OK, I can take it - no glass jaw on Tark!
.
So I lashed out and bought myself an E-3 body only, the Flagship of the Olympus Fleet. The 150-600mm lens shown here is the one I've been using all along on the E-520. Now all I have to do is learn to sail the beast - who knows, I may yet get around to shooting a few birds with it one fine day! ;-D

If you can see a faint green glow on your screen - don't worry - it is just my envy shining through!

Of course we will expect GREAT things from you now - and NO excuses.

Read the Manual!!!!!!! LOL!!!

Steve, Lyn, George - Firstly, let me correct my opening thread that should read, "140--600mm lens" - Steve, did I hear you say, "you see, he doesn't even know the focal length of his lens!"
.
Thanks Lyn, I will be sure to read the manual .... that is when all else fails! LMAO. But seriously, the E-3 menu is layered in much the same way at the E-520, the only difference is that there's a helluva lot more functions. So far I have taken only a couple of test shots under appalling conditions; surprisingly good considering. If it's any consolation, the E-520 is a lot less sophisticated and simpler to use.
.
It may be quite a while before I get to post any results as Xmas is looming and I have much preparation to do for a forthcoming extended trip to the the mainland. The E-3 instruction manual (big as a Bible) will no doubt relieve some of the tedium of the SOT crossing.

Yeah, the Pies weren't too lucky in the finals and on top of it you had to see my new toy, life's tough mate!

Have a safe trip to Brissy and up the coast. And try not to pick up any seat covers along the way! lmao

Oh no you didn't Tark!!!!!

Now I am really jealous! It's my birthday next week and I did suggest a new lens but I'll have to satisfy myself with a copy of Simpson and Day Field Guide instead, and maybe a polarising filter.:(

As others have said, the expectations are up there on you now and we will be waiting for the results with bated breath!!!

Lucky you

cheers
