Regardless of what I should have been doing this morning, instead I took advantage of a clear blue sky and sunshine to take my new toy for a test run. The difference between an E-3 and an E-520 is like comparing a Honda Legend to a Honda Jazz - both will get you there so long as you read the instructions. ;-) One gives a smoother ride.

Mate, nice shots, love em. I bet your glad you got them before the three months of rain comes now you have bought a new camera. lol. :)
Hey, what's that you're on about ... we just had 3 months of rain, it ain't over yet mate I know, but it has eased a lot to what it has been. Anyway, Oly says that all it's camera bodies are as waterproof as ducks!

Lmao, What I meant mate is basic Murphy's law,now that you have your new camera it will probably rain for another 3 months.
Another great series of shots, Tark. You've captured the action so well and the E-3 appears to be performing flawlessly. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Thanks Tassie, gotcha mate! :-)
.
George - I'm bonding with the camera nicely and remembering to have the AF on!

As an E-520 convert - I would LOVE to say "Can't see any difference between these shots and your old ones Tark" but that could mean the end of a beautiful new friendship!! LOL
Of course, I AM JOKING ! The shots are lovely - I adore the 4th one down - what a cracker!!
Glad you are enjoying your new toy - keep the shots coming!
Thanks Lyn, well at least some of the difference in these could be due to a development in my shooting technique, which is not to say that the E-3 hasn't some very neat refinements to make a birder's life easier. Yet in a year or maybe less you will probably leapfrog me with an E-4(?)and you'll be rubbing my nose in it! Sic transit gloria mundi!
.
In anticipation of you perhaps feeling misled or misguided by my recommending the E-520, I commented to George in "Showtime" - "Having recommended it to Lyn I am not in anyway suggesting that the E-520 is not a good camera for money, as it certainly is. She uses the same lens."

Tark! NO NO NO! I certainly don't (and will not) feel misled by you recommending the E-520! I am as happy as a Mudlark (excuse the Birding pun!) with your recommendation - and have plenty to learn about it yet!
It is fabulous value for money, and just what I wanted in a Beginner's camera. I envisage that I wil be sticking to the E-520 for quite a few years - it could even see me out! LOL.
Well thanks Lyn, I am much relieved to hear that my misgivings were unfounded. :)

Also called Tasmanian Cormorant, Black-and-white Shag, Black-faced Cormorant, Black-faced Shag, Tasmanian Shag, White-breasted Cormorant. http://avibase.bsc-eoc.org/species.jsp?lang=EN&avibaseid=100C87812F1BBA32
My intention was to add information from the wonderful Birds in Backyard resource - not to say the name you gave it was wrong - of course it was not. Most birds will have lots of different common names none are 'right' or 'wrong'.
