Bright weekend
A great collection, hev! Have to envy your black cockatoo though ... been waiting to get one of those in my sights. :)
Regards, "Tark" - Olympus 4/3rds colour
I love the four shots of my favourite species. Nice close-ups of the rest, too. I'm surprised Tark didn't identify the grey bird for you (I think it's a female Golden Whistler). :-)) Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Hi Heva
Nice images. Love the "Blue Wrens".
If you were in Bright, in Victoria, then your "Capricorn White eye" would be a "Silvereye". Zosterops lateralis
'
See the page in BiBY
http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/bird/34.
.
They used be named "Eastern Silvereye" but the whole bunch has been lumped together, merely as different races, except for: "the Yellow White-eye, Z. luteus lives in Australia's north and north-west. (source: BiBY)
.
The Tasmanian race has rich chestnut brown flanks, and migrates to the mainland in autumn and winter.

Hi Denis, I may have an old book (Michael Morcombe Field Guide) as it has silvereye (Zosterops lateralis)with Capricorn White-eye as a sub heading and the only one in Vic, then a heading of Pale White-eye followed by Yellow white-eye.The one I saw in Bright Vic was quite olive green with yellow flank (reminded me of a yellow rumped Thornbill).
Thanks for the info denis, will check out the link.
On a different topic....I'm off to NSW on wednesday, staying in Dee Why,anyone any tips for good birding areas? will be visiting the Blue Mountains and hoping there are some good opportunities along the Dee Why coastline?
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Hi Hev
Good pictures, love the singing wren.
White under the tail, which I think your bird has, would indicate Lateralis, most of the other races have yellow or at least a yellow tint.

Hi Heva
Re your ztrip to Dee Why, "Gelmir" of this forum often posts about birds of Long Reef and the Golf Course near there. That is all close by to where you are going.
.
He is away for a little while. But if you check out
http://myoungbirding.blogspot.com/ you should get some ideas.
.
PS "White Eye" is the typical name for the Asian birds of the same genus. But "Silvereye" is the standard accepted name in Australia. The northern ones might be visitors from Indonesia or somewhere else, where they would be know, rightly, as "White Eyes".

Thanks Denis, I checked out the link and have found a 'Greenlink' walk around the coastline that goes from Dee Why and says is rich with birdlife, perfect. Thanks again.

Hi Heva
That's an excellent result.
Thanks are really due to the Blogger concerned for having provided the info you needed.
I am merely the messenger in this case.
.
When you have been there, please post some of your "finds" and thank Gelmir, who will be reading these posts again then, no doubt.

Cheers
