Westgate Park birds.

After work on Friday I had a couple of hours to kill before going to the Sydney vs Melbourne soccer match (where we were killed 3-0). Across the railway line from my workplace is Westgate Park and I found quite a few birds to shoot. Thanks for viewing.

Nice shots out there, I have never got close enough for photographing those Black-fronted Dotterels. What camera and lens do you use?

Very nice set of birds. The stilt's legs look even longer with the relection

lovely shots Ed, I've never seen a stilt, amazing that you found all those so close to the city. The dotterell is a great shot with the reflection, they are hard to get as they are always so busy getting food in the water.thanks for sharing

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Thanks Hev, but I think George may be a bit upset if I take the credit......

Hev, no need to apologise. It's a compliment if you think that my shots are ed's work; he's the better photographer by far. :-))

Hi Birdgirl... forgive my ignorance... what does this sentence mean?...
The stilt's legs look even longer with the relection

The reflection in the water makes the stilt's legs look double their actual length.

oh yes... I understand... it was just a typo... reflection. I looked up relection in all my bird books thinking it was some kind of double jointedness. lol.. duh silly me :)

Oh Hev that is so funny :-) Any time I make a typo, I'm just going to say "actually it's a technical bird word".

Andy is right Hev - I just meant that with calm water it is hard to see the point at which the legs end and the reflection begins - the already long legs look even longer when teh relection is added
