Up the hill

Thought I'd repost this in this thread. Some of the Scaly Breasted Lorikeets I found on my morning walk. They were so well camouflaged.

This is the area behind my house, it is actually well populated though you'd never know from looking from the bottom of the hill

Cheers

I know the image is too wide, but if you view it in the large form then see how many lorikeets you can spot. It was amazing how hard they were to see. Does anyone know what the plant was they were eating? the seed pods were all spikey but they cracked them open and loved them.

Hi birdie,
.
It looks to me like a macaranga http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macaranga_tanarius. The big kind of heart-shaped leaves are a giveaway.
.
My parents have one at their place and the lorikeets love it when it is in flower and seed.
.
