Hi all
Hooray the rain has finally come and our little creek/drain is flowing again. The ground is wet and the birds are really enjoying the rain.
Here are today's sightings over the fence in my backyard, while I was trying to catch the little wrens I could hear.
The drongos were funny swooping and flitting from branch to branch and over my head.
I am fairly sure that this is the catbird who woke me up this morning at 3.45am but it was just sitting there fluffed up in the rain while I was bird hunting and getting dripped all over
Cheers

WELL DONE BIRDIE,LOOKS LIKE A YOUNG CATBIRD, ARE THEY COMMON THAT FAR SOUTH.THE RAIN WAS GREAT TO HERE ON THE ROOF UP HERE AS WELL.CHEERS GOSHAWK.
Pretty common around Buderim Goshawk. Especially where I live as there are plenty of semi rainforest trees and woodland. Also we live only about 1km as the crow flies (pardon the pun)from the Foote Sanctuary and there are plenty of them in there as well. There were a pair of them today but as I said it was drizzling and raining and I was standing on a chair that I use as a lookout to get over the tall picket fence bordering the big drain.
Where do you live? I gather North Qld somewhere?

What I meant was , as I was standing on a chair in the rain, it was so hard to get a shot through the branches and the droplets!!

Standing on a chair in the rain..... Well done birdie, glad i'm not the only one who would do that sort of thing. You are so lucky to have cat birds. Thanks for sharing.

Well done Birdie, I don't go out in the rain to take pictures it's a good thing you do.

Hi Birdie, lovely catbird shot, they are very pretty, fairly sure we don't get them here in Vic. Perhaps keeping still for a shot was by way of an apology for the early morning wake-up call?!
Standing on a chair in the rain to get photos? now THAT's dedication! thanks for sharing it with us:)
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Perhaps I should clarify that the rain was light and drizzly on and off - I don't have an underwater camera!!!! :)
I put an outdoor chair next to the fence as it was driving me nuts trying to peer through the slats and get the lens between them!! suddenly I discovered a whole new world over the fence and above me that i could sneak a preview at between the branches!
By the way Hev, yesterday my daughter was swimming in the pool which borders this fence and she called out 'Hey Mum, quick come and see this lovely green parrot with white spots on it" .... The catbird was just sitting on the fence watching her!
Cheers
