My morning walks have been longer lately and the area is alive with activity. The coucals have moved into the garden and surrounds and there is a pair. I have discovered that , apart from the loud hooping when they call to eachother, the more local sound is a constant dry cough like sound. It is their equivalent of my catbirds "tsk" sound. It alerts me to their presence in the garden.
Don't ever believe that they can't fly!!
He flew to a very high position for a while.
Dove taken while I was checking out the swamphens.
BLue faced honey eaters chasing each other through their favourite bush
Then I saw a huge flock of lorikeets shepherding a grey goshawk, but cuolsn't get a shot.
Cheers
Birdie
Nice bif shots birdie.
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Wow Birdie, nice shots, love the Coucal in flight and the BFH.
Well done.
Lovely shots of the coucal and the honeyeater as well. Now I'm envious. The one with the wings spread is extra good.
