Some random photos

Hello all, these photos aren't great but I'll post them anyway, hopefully in 3 months i'll get a DSLR :)
Rock Dove

Noisy Miners + Nest

Crested Pigeon

One of the juv. magpies from family group at school

Cattle Egret Flying

Cattle Egrets, these have to be the hardest birds to get anywhere near, I can't even get within 30 metres of them before they fly off!

Juv. Magpie again

Crested Pigeon, the white background does it no justice

2 juv. magpies together

My best shot of the juv. magpie

And, anyone ID this feather?

Having a wonderful time at school with the local butcherbird singing away everyday and the juvenile magpies attempting to sing, there is a family group of 4 of them around the school and they are a pleasure to watch and hear.

good collection Amateur. Can't wait to see what you can do with a DSLR. As far as the owner of the feather is concerned i'm thinking the Rainbow Lorikeet.

Probably right with the feather ID, I was wondering to myself what kind of local bird has orange feathers. I can't wait to see what I can do with a DSLR either, I hope it's good :)

love the egrets and cow pic. is the DSLR a birthday present?you wont know yourself, bet you can't wait.

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Hi Amateur
Interesting series of birds. I think the feather is probably a rainbow lorikeet too. If you want to see cattle egrets, try the Hunter Wetlands Centre at Shortland Newcastle if you are not too far away or feel like a weekend/holiday away. I took these photos (re-posted) in early December last year - there were stacks fo cattle egrets in each tree.
