Dropped in for a vists to the local pond area hoping to see that darter which I saw yesterday drying its wings without my camera, needless to say as with so many cases it wasn't there. However there were still lots of other birds, and some photos from the farm.
Cattle Egrets, stunned them after popping up from behind a cow, they didn't hang around for long.
Willie Wagtail, ruined the photos with some setting I had for the whiteness of the Egrets I was stalking.
Dusky MOorhen
Purple Swamphen surveying his land
White Faced Heron
Little Black Cormorant
Noisy Friarbird
And to finish off, some reeds, with 2 beautifully camoflagued Pacific Black Ducks
Hope you enjoy :)

LOl, whoops about the 2 Hope you enjoy, also forgot my story attached to that Friarbird, first I was crouching low berhind a rock to gewt some snaps of the cormorants before he flew straight at me before veering off about 5 metres before me, he did this several times and then proceeded to fly away. I pursued him up the creek and then he flew back so I floowed him all the way back when he proceeded to land in several trees until he finally found the one he liked, he was then joined by another friarbird. Now these birds must have had alot of experience in 'dodge the camera' because I spent about 1/2 hour moving around that one tree trying to take photos of them before one finally popped himslef onto the outside of the bush (I also got some very strage looks from some walkers), I guess it shows perseverance pays off :)
Great work amateur, especially the friar bird. They aren't an easy bird to get close to and the practice your getting now (and the getting used to funny looks) will pay off hwen you do get your SLR. Keep it up mate.

You had a very good day. I would have liked to see a photo of you popping up from behind the cow!
