I finally caught these guys today quite by accident. I was chasing the yellow-tailed blacks after hearing them in trees on the next street. As I was bemoaning my loss when they flew to the other side of the valley, I heard a flutter of wings and a peep beside me and suddenly I was next to this beautiful creature. Of course I got so excited that I nearly blew the shot completely but it was such a coup to actually see them when normally I hear them all day long but because they are up at the top I never get to spot them from my garden. Maybe I should hang out in the street up the hill more often !

It sure made my day.

Love the King Parrot photos! I'm sure you will get those Cockatoos one day, they are truly wonderful birds. If you don't mind me asking but do you live in a forest haven or something? You always have these beautiful trees and vegetation in your photos and they're always on your street, it looks like a beautiful place to live. Hope you'll get lucky with the Cockies :D
great shots birdie!
one of my favourite birds - in your second picture you can see it but i didn't know that the males had a dark blue line between the red and the green until i hand fed them at Queen Mary Falls near Killarney Qld
Haven't seen one up close for years, since I lived up in Montville, on the Blackall range here. Then we were lucky enough to have them visit on our veranda.... along with the Pale Headed rosellas.
And we had a white faced Heron who used to come and sit on our neighbours roof, and fish from her goldfish pond... she was not impressed! He thought he'd found a smorgasbord.
Cheers

Nice shots Birdie, hang in there you'll get those yellow tails one day.
My parents recently moved to montville from maleny. Still a beautiful spot there.
Hi Birdie - great shot of the king parrot showing the neck ring. I also love the yellow-tailed black-cockatoos - I run outside when I hear them. A couple of times in the last few months they landed in our yard in the gum tree and giant candles banksia - but I don't have any proof! Thanks for your support the other day - much appreciated
