I see a lot of woodpeckers in my neighborhood due to the fragmented woodlots in the area. My regulars include downies, red-bellies, and an occasional hairy (looks nearly identical to a downy with the main exception being a thicker and longer beak). I had the pleasure of seeing my first Sapsucker during their migration. What a treat! Here a few photos that I actually have uploaded-I am constantly taking pictures and never getting them onto a sharing site!
Downy Woodpecker:
Red-bellied Woodpecker:
*somewhere I actually have a photo that shows the bit of red on his belly!*
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker:
I've now had some success posting pictures so I'm now crossing my fingers and hoping it continues!
The one picture was cut off again. I cropped it thinking it would downsize the dimensions. We'll see (I don't feel like editing it right now and reloading so testing the crop on the site first).
Wish we could edit our posts after we see it was a flop!
