Gidday sparrow......You would not believe I was just thinking yesterday about Goldfinches and wondering if they were still in the ACT area where I grew up.
I remember them as a kid and there beautiful calls.
They used to nest about a metre off the ground in the base of poplar trees and a bit higher up on the outer branches of pine trees.
Thanks heaps for sharing that pic it is one bird I would like to see more of on here, I know its introduced, but its still a nice finch.
If I can ask, where was that taken Sparrow.
Cheers.

It was taken just outside Cranbourne gardens in Melbourne.
I kept them as a boy a long long time ago,I to was happy to see what seemed to be a small colony living happily in the wild.
I will be going back to see if i can get a better shot,as i said it was almost dark by the time i got one to sit still long enough to have his photo taken.
cheers sparrow

They nest every year at my place near Bathurst. We don't have many exotic birds so I can't say they are welcome. I live in dread that sparrows or starlings will take up residency here, we do also have blackbirds but they seem to be a stable population.

Where i live we have a problem with Indian miners, the only natives who can stand up to them are noisy miners and magpies they chase off everything else,I'm seeing them further into the bush each year i worry that one day they will be all that is left.
