Wow..... you are very lucky to have that lot in for a visit ... and I love the woody natural look on the feeders.... makes for a better pic too doesn't it?
Bet you don't get any Golden Whistlers in that close :')
... or maybe you do in your neck of the woods..... I did read .... was just protesting loudly and jealously BBN LOL
Fair enough Birdie, I would love to seen more Rufous Whistlers though. Here are a couple of male Golden Whistlers shot at my place. The first pic was taken when the male and female were leading me away from their nest. I'm spewing about the leaf and stick in the way because I remember working hard for the shot.
You're up early on a Sunday! I love the collection of parrots and your feeder looks great. This morning I was sitting out the back watching the Indian mynas on the rosella box and a male king parrot landed in the bottlebrush right beside me
It is still a nice shot though. So they do behave that way.... I was just having a guess as to why he hung around and serenaded me for so long and then she flew in and took off to where I first saw him and he stayed discreet distance away. Must have been laughing their heads off at this silly woman being led around by the nose! You know I swear that the eastern Yellow dropped in to help out too :)
I would be so upset with those Mynahs Birdgirl. We are lucky that around here our birds are pretty aggressive and I saw the Loris and the noisies and the butcherbirds giving a pair curry a few weeks ago on my morning walk.
Oh yes the noisy miners are at them thank goodness because they breed a few houses up and feed in our grevilleas every day. Their babies are coming into our yard at the moment. Mrs Rosella is in the box still but this Mr Rosella is very passive - he hasn't chased them off - some of the past ones have defended their nests very well. I'm sure if it was rainbow lorikeets instead the mynas wouldn't have a chance
Hey bushbirdnerd. That is an awesome shot of the eastern spinebill (juv or female) Probably one of the best shots taken on your bird feeder... Looks like bourke street!!!
