Hunter Valley Gardens birds

Today we went to Hunter Valley Gardens and I took the camera this time.

I noticed that the dusky moorhens were diving for food and feeding their young - I didn't know they did this

I'm submitting this for a caption contest!

It is interesting Birdgirl, have you ever watched animals with their young (dogs, big cats etc) they do the same thing.... open the mouth really wide and cover the head. I guess we are just programmed to use our hands so much! We used to have German Shepherds and our breeder taught us to do the same thing to a pup.... "scruff" it into the ground when it does something wrong just like Mum does. Used to work well!

Hey Birdgirl, did you know that there was a Spring photography competition on at the Hunter Wetlands. You should get down there and take some shots, they have to be taken between Oct1st and Nov 30th. Sounds like fun :)

Thanks everyone - there are plenty of great birds of all kinds there.
birdie - maybe we should try that on our young - except old ladies in supermarkets would report us to docs. Thanks for letting me know about the photo comp. I had a look; it's $30 to enter one photo and there is only one prize for each of the 3 categories. Still it would be fun and a good excuse to get out there
