Hi Ringneck, I think that sandpiper is in fact a Ruddy Turnstone.

Thanks. Appreciate the help on idneitifications - I have a lot to learn there. I use Cayley to help out, but it seems to be less and less useful these days.

"What bird is that?" a fairly old guide . Tassie told me he grew up with it and it had good in flight illustrations I think.I nearly bought one on E bay but decided the later ones were better for me. ( Plus e-bay and I do not mix well... I hate the thing!)
