This is my old mate Henry, the male Australian Kestrel with whom I spent about two weeks' worth of mornings and afternoons recently before his young fledged and dispersed. I see him in the area from time to time and am certain he and his lady will be back around August to start courtship. Unless of course food is plentiful, which means they may nest again shortly. He is about to regurgitate a pellet of indigestible insect bits and other offal. I used my two converters from about 5m away to get him full frame in this image. He was very "tame".
Beautiful image and great use of the extra magnification.... just goes to show you that if you use good glass then a converter can be your best friend . Do they actually swallow all the hard bits and then bring it up or do they keep it somewhere in their mouth or throat? ... an interesting digestive system .
